Rocco D. Arena

1920 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Rocco D. Arena, 93, of Pittsfield, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield, on May 26, 1920, a son of the late Giuseppe and Teresa Caruso Arena. He and attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School. He was employed by the General Electric Co. for 40 years and retired from the former Power Transformer Dept. in 1979. He was a veteran of the Navy and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He had been a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, the former Josephine Ruscetta, whom he married May 10, 1947; a son, Arthur Arena of West Springfield, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Dominick Areno, and Samuel, Anthony and Joseph A. Arena, and a sister, Rose Amuso. FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no calling hours, services and burial are private.
