1934 - 2016 WILLIAMSTOWN; MA Roland Emile Ethier, age 82, died peacefully Thursday, September 08, 2016, at Sweetbrook Nursing Home in Williamstown, MA with his family by his side. Mr. Ethier was born in Bridport, VT on May 11, 1934. He was the son of Woilley and Rose (Beaudin) Ethier. He grew up in Orwell and received his early education in local schools. In his earlier years he worked the family farm. In 1956 he moved to Connecticut and employment with Newton Dyecasting. In 1960 he moved to Williamstown, MA and established Ron's Trucking Co. and later Ron's Commercial Cleaning business. With these two businesses Ron both serviced and befriended all of Williamstown. He is to this day remembered as being a working man's boss, both fair and caring to his employees. Ron had been employed by General Electric in Pittsfield, MA and later transferred to Schenectady, NY finally retiring following more than 25 years of service. He had belonged to Williamstown Lions Club and at one time served as an auxiliary policeman in Williamstown. Ron had also been very involved with Toy's for Tot's and any volunteer efforts especially involving children where he could share his talents. Surviving is his daughter; Karen Meyer of Ft. Collins, CO and his son; Eric Ethier of Williamstown, MA, 2 sister's; Rita Chartrand of Rutland and Laura Ethier of Orwell and a brother; Rene Ethier of West Haven, CT. 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife; Lillian (Burke) Ethier and his wife; Lila (Stanton) Ethier, 4 brother's; Aime Ethier, Emil Ethier, Emery Ethier and Paul Ethier and 5 sister's; Bertha Chartrand, Flora Lussier, Anna Hotte, Annette Wilbur and Noella Bertrand. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 10 AM, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon. Following the ceremony the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion for a time of remembrance. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place later in the day, at St. Genevieve Cemetery in Shoreham. Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon
