1926-2014 PITTSFIELD- Roland B. Middleton, 87, of Thomas Island Road passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at his home. Born in Methuen, MA on December 23, 1926; the son of Albertron and Louise P. Waardal Middleton, he was a 1945 graduate of Methuen High School and received a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University in 1953, he attended Boston University through the GI Bill. He served in the US ARMY during World War II, enlisting on August 24, 1945 and was honorably discharged January 29, 1947; he served with the Headquarters Detachment, 166th TC Truck Battalion in Welzlau, Germany. Roland's career in finance led him to many different job positions on both the east and west coast; prior to his retirement in 1984 he was employed as a group president for Peabody Financial, based in Stamford, CT for 20 years. He enjoyed visiting Atlantic City, bowling and was a member of the Charles A. Persip, Post 68 in Pittsfield, MA. Roland leaves his wife the former Joan Marie Beekman whom he married March 31, 1967; they would have celebrated their 47th anniversary in March; two sons David Middleton of Houston, TX, Michael Middleton of Haverhill, MA and three grandsons. He was predeceased by a brother Ronald Middleton. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Mr. Roland B. Middleton will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10AM at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Constance Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
