Rolland Allard Obituary
Rolland A. Allard

1938 - 2015 NORTH ADAMS Rolland A. Allard, born Jan. 10, 1938, died May 26, 2015 due to Alzheimer's complications. Rolland was a North Adams native, a graduate of Drury High School and Springfield Technical Community College and a parishioner at Notre Dame Church. Rolland worked as a taxi driver, an insurance salesman, a real estate agent, a janitor, a parts inspector at GE, and more. Rolland had the gift of gab and an irreverent sense of humor that gained him hundreds of friends and acquaintances. Rolland never met a stranger. He was deeply committed to God, country, and family; he was a principled man with integrity and a boundless generosity. He cared especially for veterans and individuals with disabilities. Rolland was paralyzed at age 9, experienced discrimination in a pre-ADA era, but persevered and wanted anyone with a disability to succeed. Rolland moved to Colorado in 2004 to be closer to his daughter and to provide care for his second ex-wife, who also suffered from Alzheimer's. He is missed by his children and their spouses, Kevin Mackenzie (Alice), Nicole (Yates Oppermann), grandchildren, Auden and Freya Oppermann, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alice (Moreau), brothers, Wilfred, Conrad, Bernard, Joseph and sisters, Rachel, Lucille, Claire, Rita, Theresa, Alice and Jeanne. SERVICES: Please join us in remembering Rolland at a memorial mass at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Church in North Adams, September 4th at 11a.m.
