1941 - 2015 ADAMS Mr. Ronald R. Battory, 74, of 87 1/2 Orchard St., died late Thursday evening, July 30, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Pittsfield on January 15, 1941, a son of the late Stephen and Adella (Patryn) Battory. He attended North Adams schools, and graduated from Drury High School. He attended Williams College, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst. Mr. Battory worked as a computer programmer in the Ordnance Division of General Electric Co. and later, for General Dynamics, in Pittsfield, for many years, until retiring in 2013. Earlier, he had worked briefly for Hewlett-Packard Corp. He was also a professional jazz musician, playing the alto and tenor saxophone, clarinet, and several other instruments. He played with jazz bands at many shows at several different venues in the region, especially at the Williams Inn. He was an ardent music fan, and also enjoyed birdwatching and electronics. He was a very dedicated family man as well. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a member of the Williams College and UMass-Amherst Alumni Associations. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy A. Battory of Kenosha, WI and Susan M. Rahilly of Burlington, WI; a grandson, Shawn Rahilly of Burlington, WI; a brother, Stephen J. Battory of North Adams; and his former wife, Jean (Maluda) Battory of Silver Lake, WI. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert L. Battory, in 1998. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held at the PACIOREK FUINERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 5 to 7p.m.. Relatives and friends are invited.
