Ronald A. Pugh
1951-2013 PITTSFIELD Ronald A. Pugh, 62, of 379 Providence Court, went to be with his Lord and Savior late Tuesday evening, August 20, 2013. He was born in Bainbridge, Ga. on April 8, 1951 to the late Ms. Ruby E. Pugh Bendross. He attended local schools in his hometown and graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. with a bachelors degree in history. There he was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. Throughout his life he worked for Delta Airlines, Atlanta Water Department and was also a property manager in Atlanta. He was a longtime volunteer for "Feed The Hungry" in Atlanta. He devoted much of his time to the Atlanta Umpire Association due to his passion for baseball. He later retired and moved to the Berkshires to be closer to his siblings. Ron enjoyed his independence very much and spent his days with his family and friends, scooting around the city on his scooter, or hanging out with his friends at Providence Court. He was a faithful attendee of the 4th of July Parade with his niece and nephew and annually attended the baseball games at Wahconah Park with his family. Most of all he loved to be able to attend his nephew's baseball games, unless the forecast called for rain. He is survived by his "Sister Dear" Sandra A. Pugh DelosSantos of Dalton; his "Lil Bro" Anthony W. Pugh and sister-in-law Michelle Smith, both of Becket; a niece, Nina A. Pugh DelosSantos, and his pride and joy, his great-nephew, Jayon L. Black, of Dalton. He also leaves his uncle, Gordie Pugh Jr., of Lithonia, Ga.; many, many cousins from Asbury Park, N.J. to Atlanta and Bainbridge, Ga., and all his frat brothers. He was predeceased by his mother; maternal grandparents; aunts and cousins. The family would like to thank his favorite doctor, Dr. Alicia, and the Cardiac Rehab Center team, and Dr. Mary Yee. A very special thanks to all of BRTA, Berkshire Cabulance and Link to Life for making his independent lifestyle possible. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service from 2 to 3 p.m. officiated by Pastor Kevin Smail of Yoked Parish of Becket.
