Ronald J. Sawtelle

1936-2014 DALTON Ronald J. Sawtelle, 77, of Park Terrace passed away at home on Friday, April 18 following a battle with cancer. Ron was born in Wilton, Maine on October 30, 1936; the son of David A. and Helen Turcotte Sawtelle, he was a graduate of the former Dalton High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on September 3, 1955 and received an honorable discharge, having attained the rank of Sergeant on December 5, 1962. He was employed at Cheryfield Foods, in Cherryfield, Maine and retired from Crane & Company Inc. in 2009. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dalton. Ron leaves his wife the former Lorraine J. Hescock whom she married November 13, 1971, son Kerry Satwelle and Jackie Farren, daughter Donna Sheldon and her husband Jimmy, daughter Rhonda Lorette and her husband Gary, son Keith Sawtele and wife "G". daughter Darcey White and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters Linda Marsh and husband David from Webster, Mass., Sherry Schuman and her husband Jim of New Hampshire, Sandra and her husband Walter of Lawrence, Mass., Patricia Gulezean of Lawrence, Mass., brother Duane Sawtelle and his significant other Ellen of Lawrence, Mass. Ron was predeceased by his parents and brother Roy and Dick. Ron's family would like to thank all the wonderful loving support and care that the Berkshire Medical Center staff and HospiceCare in the Berkshires staff had given him in his time of need. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Ron will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11am at the First Congregational Church of Dalton, with Rev. Quentin Chin and Rev. Alex Hunter, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
