1922 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
PITTSFIELD - Rosemary Ann Ryan, 89, formerly of Dalton Avenue, Pittsfield, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield after a long illness.
Born on June 1, 1922, in Pittsfield, daughter of John and Matie Mooney Ford, she attended Saint Charles Grammar School and was a 1939 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She was a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College. A homemaker, Mrs. Ryan at one time had worked at the General Electric Company as a secretary for several years. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, and a devout Catholic; she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, St. Francis Church and Sacred Heart Church.
She was the devoted wife of Clinton J. Ryan, whom she married at St. Charles Church on Nov. 20, 1941; he died May 1, 1999.
She is survived by a son, Dennis P. Ryan, and his wife, Maureen, of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Judith A. Bercury and her husband, Donald, of Pittsfield and Patricia J. Pero and her husband, Ronald, of Dalton; daughter-in-law, Janet Ryan of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Archambault, Thomas Ryan, Timothy Bercury, Katie Bercury, Megan Berry, Benjamin Ryan, Kristin Ryan, Liz Ryan Dwyer, Martin Ryan, Erin Hicks and Heidi Pero; also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; godchild and niece, Elizabeth O'Laughlin, and another niece, Debbie Witten; four nephews, David, Daniel and Peter Koscher and Michael Ford.
She was predeceased by a son, Michael John Ryan, on Oct. 11, 2004, and by three sisters, Ceil O'Laughlin, Marie Ford and Theresa Koscher, and by a brother, John Ford.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Agnes Church in Dalton, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Michael J. Ryan Scholarship Fund in care of St. Joseph's High School, Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield. The Ryan family would like to sincerely thank Ed Forfa and his staff at Berkshire Place for their compassionate care as well as HospiceCare in the Berkshires for their kind support.
