Roy Joseph Kross 1925-2011 PITTSFIELD Roy Joseph Kross, 86, of 103 West Union Street, Pittsfield, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at his home. Born in Pittsfield on May 22, 1925, the son of John and Eleanora Eckirt Kross, he attended Pittsfield schools. A World War II veteran, he served as a Carpenter's Mate Second Class with the United States Navy Seabees from Aug. 30, 1943, until March 24, 1945. Mr. Kross was employed by General Electric Company as a woodworker. He retired in 1986 with 40 years service. He attended St. Mark Church. He had been a communicant of the former Holy Family Church. He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. Mr. Kross is survived by a sister, Mary S. Taginski, of Pittsfield; his niece and caregiver, Cynthia DiPierro and her husband, Frank, of Hinsdale, another niece, Lynn Goddard of Pittsfield; two nephews, Francis Taginski and his wife, Toni, of Burlington, Vt. and John Taginski of Saratoga, N.Y.; as well as great nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Roy Joseph Kross will be held Wed., Dec. 14, at 1 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor of St. Mark Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Kross may be made to St. Mark Church in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
