Royal J. Comeau 1937-2011 ADAMS Royal J. Comeau, 73 of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Adams and also formerly of West Long Branch, N.J. and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died June 22, 2011 in Ocala. Born in Adams on December 9, 1937, son of the late Eusebe and Augustine Gagnon Comeau he attended Adams schools. Royal served in the US Air Force for four years before joining the US Coast Guard and finding his home and received his honorable discharge in 1982. He went on to train as an electrician and as an A/C Heating and Refrigeration serviceman and became chief engineer for the Hilton Hotel in Tinton Falls, N.J., and the Ramada Inn in Hazlet, N.J. Royal was also employed for several years for the MWR at Weapons Station Earle for the US Navy.. He was a member of the US Coast Guard Campbell Association, the US Coast Guard Portland Cuttermen's Association, a member of the Oak Run Veterans Association and enjoyed many clubs and activities at Oak Run where he lived. Royal often said " Even though Joseph is my middle name I'm no carpenter" Later in life he found he loved doing wood crafts in his garage and many people have been recipients of his dogs, birds, bears and other novelties. He will be remembered for his quiet way, his offbeat sense of humor and his love for his wife of thirty two years. He is survived by his wife the former Dorothy Ann Conway, whom he married on June 1, 1979. One son, Gerard M. Comeau of Davie, Fla. And one grandson Nathaniel D. Martin. Three sisters, Doris Gardner, Margaret Comeau and Marie Anderson and her husband John all of Adams.. One sister in law, Theresa Comeau of Adams and one brother in law George M. Conway Jr. and his wife Lorraine Stavola Conway of Middletown, N.J. Mr. Comeau was previously married to Laura Thomas Wandrei of North Adams. She had two children, Robert Wandrei of Lee and Susan Wandrei Therrien and her husband Roger of North Adams and there three children, Roger, Robert and Christa. Royal has three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son David Comeau, two sisters, Roma Smith and Blanche Comeau and two brothers Bernard and Francis Comeau. Royal has many friends in Massachusetts, New Jersy, Florida and nieces and nephews in New Jersey and Massachusetts. He leaves also his two cats that miss him greatly, Lovey and Sparkle (The Kraken). FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Royal J. Comeau will take place Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 6 p.m. from the Trottier Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
