HINSDALE Rufus "Sonney" W. Dewkett, 72, of Country Road., passed away Jan. 24, 2014, surrounded by his family.Born Sept. 10, 1941, in Lee, the son of Rufus W. and Hilda Sherman Dewkett Sr., Sonney was a 1959 graduate of Dalton High School. He retired in 1996 from Lane Construction Corporation after 28 years of service. Sonney was a member of Local 98 operating engineers. He enjoyed camping, hunting, country fairs, horse pulling and attending his favorite fair, the Fryeburg Fair in Maine. He leaves his wife, the former Sheridan "Sherrie" Drosehn, whom he married Nov.r 25, 1961; his mother, Hilda Dewkett of Edgewood, Fla.; daughter, Dawn Dewkett, and her fiance, Fasa, of Pittsfield; sons, Todd Dewkett and his wife, Nancy, of Peru, Robert Dewkett and his wife, Michele, of Peru; grandchildren, Robbie and Tony Zaniboni, Mike and Brian Dewkett, Jonathon Dewkett, and Cody Paschal; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Fowle and Joy Solarz, both of Edgewood, Fla.; brother, Karl Dewkett of Hinsdale, and his aunt, Jan, and her husband, Ed Turner, of Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE: Per Sonney's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Following cremation, the family will hold a private committal service.
