Pittsfield - Mrs. Ruth Ann Carrigan, 75, of Pittsfield passed away peacefully on Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield, October 15, 1942, the daughter of Robert R. and Elsie L. Fields Rathbun, she attended the Cheshire Elementary School and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School.

She was employed at the former Berkshire Metal Spinning and Stamping from where she retired. Previously, she was a Waitress at the former Green Acres Restaurant for many years, and before that she was an Assistant Supervisor at ALADCO.

A longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Cheshire, she taught Sunday School there and she was very active with the 4H club and the Cubs Scouts. Ruth was a lover of country music, the outdoors, all types of flowers and plants, and animals.

She and her husband of 26 years, James J. Carrigan Sr. were married May 28, 1993 in Dalton.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, Cynthia J. Francouer of Pittsfield, Ralph "Butch" Bellinger and wife Colleen of Savoy, and Bruce Bellinger and wife Diana, of Cheshire, her grandchildren, Courtney M., Chloe A., and Camry G. Francouer, Joshua R. Bellinger and Corey Demary, her great granddaughter, Adelina, two stepsons, James J. Carrigan Jr. and wife Christine of New Mexico, and Thomas E. Carrigan and wife Robin of Colorado, her brother, Richard A. Rathbun of Adams, three sisters, Barbara Stone and husband Dick of Texas, Patty St. Pierre and husband David of Southwick, and Susan Glasser and husband Gary of Cheshire, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ronald R. Rathbun.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 rd at 12:00 Noon at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, with Rev. William Furey officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.

If friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
