Ruth Olive Davis Bernardo

1920-2012 NORTH ADAMS Ruth Olive (Davis) Bernardo 92, of 45 Spring St. North Adams died Tuesday August 14, 2012 at the North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was born in North Adams on March 9, 1920 a daughter of the late Earl Franklin Davis Sr. and Frances Olive (Hall) Davis. She attended schools in North Adams. In her younger years she was employed at the Sprague Electric Co. and later worked as a private child care provider in the area. She loved spending time with her family and was devoted mother and homemaker. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis Church in North Adams.

Her husband: Frank Henry Bernardo whom she married May 31, 1941 died September 3, 1998.

Survivors include one daughter: Frances Slick of North Adams and two sons: Gary Bernardo of Williamstown and Wayne Bernardo and his wife Catherine of Evergreen, Colo. Six grandchildren: Daniel Slick, David Slick, Lori Keating, Cheryl Slick, Nicholas Bernardo and Natalie Bernardo, eight Great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was last of her immediate family and was predeceased two sister and five brothers: Gladys Dube, Violet Donnelly, Ralph Davis, Clyde Davis, Earl Davis Jr., William Davis and Gerald Davis.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Ma. are Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
