1928-2013 ADAMS Ruth Ann Bombardier, 85, of 144 Columbia St., died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her home. Born in Unity, ME on July 15, 1928, daughter of the late Bertwell and Ellen Yonkers McKenzie. She came to Savoy as a foster child with Mr. & Mrs Frank Lagowski. Ruthie first worked for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams until she founded "Ruthies Yarn Shop" in Adams, which she operated for fifty years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Adams where she enjoyed attending the women's group, and was also a member and officer of the former Cartier Club in Adams. She was awarded many first place blue ribbons for her crafts at county fairs. Ruthie also was her husbands assistant, who was an amateur magician, enjoyed traveling, but most of all loved spending time with her family in Nevada and Waltham, MA. Her husband, Donald, whom she married on September 18, 1948, died October 17, 1995. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Burdick, Sheryl Arico and her husband Kenneth, all of Waltham, a son, Douglas Bombardier and his wife Donna of Henderson, Nevada. Six grandchildren, Carly and Kenneth and Jeffery Arico, Julianne and Elissa Burdick, and Catherine Bombardier, a foster brother, Frank Lagowski of Adams and his wife Jeanette, and her long time companion Charlie Pytko of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Ruthie will take place Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11AM at the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 8PM. Donations in her memory can be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires Inc. in care of the funeral home.
