Ruth M. Ditore Obituary
Ruth May Ditore, 89, loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, June 23, 2016, at Broward Health North Hospital, Pompano Beach, FL. Ruth was born October 25, 1926 in Pittsfield, MA to Fred and Mildred (Rawlings) Baker. In 1966 Ruth fulfilled a lifelong dream and graduated from the Pittsfield Vocational High School Practical Nursing Program. For many years she worked as an ICU/CCU nurse at Pittsfield General Hospital, now Berkshire Medical Center. Also a talented artist, Ruth owned her own business, The Plastercraft Palace in West Pittsfield in the 1980s. Ruth's love of the arts persisted throughout her life as she continued to enjoy crocheting, sewing, jewelry making, painting and was an avid reader subscribing to many book clubs. She started playing golf when she moved to Pompano Beach in 1988 and won several tournaments. Besides art, Ruth treasured her faith and was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach. She began each morning reading her bible and devotional inspirational prayers. She is survived by her companion of 28 years, Eugene Pomerleau; her children, Karen Furlano and son-in-law Daniel, Wayne Ditore and daughter-in- law Joanne, Samuel Ditore. Sr. and daughter-in- law Kelley, Maxine Phillips and son-in- law Robert, and James Stockley; Twelve grandchildren, Dylan Furlano, Margo Ditore, Vincent Ditore, Samuel Ditore, Jr., Leo Ditore, Jason Ditore, Michelle Darnaby , Alicia Smith, Robin Muse, Roger Phillips, Gina Stockley and James Stockley, III; Seventeen Great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; Sister, Mildred Ketcham; Brother, Lawrence Baker and sister-in- law Rose; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Samuel Ditore; son Robert Stockley, siblings, Fred Baker, Edward Baker, Kenneth Baker, Connie Jacobs, and Claudia Silvagni. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Dery Funeral Home, Pittsfield, MA, to celebrate what would have been her 90 th birthday.
