Ruth McCormick

1924-2012 PITTSFIELD Ruth McCormick, 88, of 101 Broadview Terrace in Pittsfield, passed away December 10, 2012 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born on July 19, 1924 in Pittsfield, was the daughter of Ernest and Marjorie Werden Beron, attended local schools graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1942.

Prior to marriage she worked in the General Electric personnel office for 5 years, and then worked as a secretary to the Administrator for the former St. Luke's Hospital in Pittsfield. Following the merger of Berkshire Medical Center and St. Luke's Hospital she became secretary of the Vice President of Berkshire Medical Center, retiring in 1985. Ruth was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield. Ruth enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening and shopping. In her later years she spent many happy times with her close friend Jack Phelps, of Hinsdale.

Survivors include one daughter Cheryl L. Cunningham of Ashburn, Virginia, two sons Robert D. McCormick and Douglas S. McCormick of Pittsfield, seven grandchildren Wendy, Keith, Betsy, Lynn, Kristy, Scott, Kealin, four great-grandchildren Sam, Maya, Molly and Leah.

Her husband Douglas S. McCormick whom she married October 19, 1946, died December 16, 1987. She is predeceased by two brothers Harry and Ernest Beron.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of Ruth's life and private memorial service will be held Monday December 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Calvin Martin Memorial Chapel inside the Pittsfield Cemetery Gate, Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery, next to her husband Doug, there will be no calling hours. Donations in her memory can be made to The Christian Center or Animal Dreams through the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME 220 EAST STREET PITTSFIELD MA 01201 who's in charge of arrangements.
