Sally Ann Spina

1946-2016 Sally Ann Spina, 69, of 142 Pomeroy Avenue, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on September 2, 1946, the daughter of Dorothy Gross O'Donnell and the late William P. O'Donnell, she was a 1964 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mrs. Spina was employed as an art teacher in the Pittsfield Public Schools for ten years and had tutored students, as well. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church where she was active in parish affairs, and had been a commu -nicant and active parishioner of the former St. Teresa Church. She had served on the Board of Directors of Berkshire Families and Children. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading. Mrs. Spina leaves her husband, The Honorable Francis X. Spina, whom she married August 4, 1975. Besides her husband and her mother of Pittsfield, Mrs. Spina is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Spina and her partner James Kennedy of Sheffield, and Francesca Spina of Framingham; a sister, Pamela Oakes and her husband, Gordon, of South Deerfield; a brother, Thomas O'Donnell, and his wife, Leslie, of Pittsfield; and a grandson, James Kennedy. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Sally Ann Spina will be held Saturday, March 19, at 8:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
