Shaun "Slimmy" Brassard

1974 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Shaun P. "Slimmy" Brassard, 40, of 142 Gale Ave., was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at the Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y., after becoming ill while traveling on the New York State Thruway. He was born in Pittsfield on Jan. 8, 1974, the son of Karen Gallagher Brassard and James L. Brassard. Educated in the local schools, he was a 1992 graduate of Taconic High School. Mr. Brassard continued his education and was a graduate of the Tri-State CDL Training School in Springfield. Employed as a truck driver for several area produce distributors throughout his career, he was initially employed with Guido's and later U.S. Foods. At the time of his death, he was employed with Hogan Transportation, Inc. . He was an ardent and vocal fan of both the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys and also enjoyed going to Nascar races, including those at Louden, Pocono and Dover with his friends. Besides his mother, Karen, with whom he resided, and his father, James of Pittsfield, he is survived by his sister, Tracy Rod and her husband, Darryl of Cheshire and their two daughters, Caelin and Kelsey; his aunt Patricia Gallagher of Venice, Fla., and his uncle and aunt, William and Sherrie Brassard of Pittsfield, and his numerous friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: Brassard, Shaun, P. "Slimmy," died July 26, 2014. A Celebration of his Life with be held at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday at 7 p.m. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers and to honor his niece, Kelsey, memorial donations may be made to the Crohn's Foundation in care of the funeral home.
