1929 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Shirley A. Carroll, 85, of Plymouth Street, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, MA on October 27, 1929, she was the daughter of John J. and Isabelle M. Rodgers Guidi. She attended local elementary schools and was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She later attended the former Berkshire Business College. During her working career, Shirley was employed as a secretary to the former Probation Officer, Joseph Torchio, and later worked at Berkshire County Savings Bank and City Savings Bank. Shirley was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. She and her husband, Howard P. Carroll, celebrated 35 years of marriage until his death on January 22, 1993. In her younger years, Shirley liked to travel and most recently enjoyed watching Red Sox games and completing crossword puzzles. Above all, Shirley loved spending time with her family. Shirley is survived by two daughters; Nancy O'Donnell and her husband, Peter, of Pittsfield, and Laurie Maloy and her husband, Robert, of Cheshire, as well as six grandchildren; Vinnie Regan and his wife, Ali, Jamie Regan, Timothy and Megan O'Donnell and Daniel and Hayley Maloy; and one great-grandson, James Howard Regan. She also leaves her long-time companion, Warren O'Brien. In addition to her husband, Shirley was predeceased by her daughter, Marianne Regan, who died in 2009, her son, Joseph Michael Carroll, who died in 2010, and her brother, John J. Guidi. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. A funeral service will begin at 1p.m. at the funeral home, led by the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo, parochial vicar of Sacred Heart Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends wishing may make memorial donations in Shirley's honor to Elder Services, in care of the funeral home.
