1937 - 2016 PITTSFIELD- Shirley I. Harrington, 79, of Pittsfield died Friday afternoon at Springside Nursing Home in Pittsfield where she had resided since June of last year. She was surrounded by loving family members and lifelong friend Marie Davis. Born in Pittsfield, June 11, 1937 the daughter of Estelle and Victor Martineau. She attended local public schools and was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Shortly after graduation she married William F. Harrington on September 3, 1955. Shirley was a dedicated housewife and devoted mother to four sons. She loved to be with family and never missed a baseball game of her sons or grandsons. She loved watching the Boston Red Sox with her husband Bill. Many sleepovers were held at her home for neighborhood kids and ball players. She was a second mother to many kids, her and Bill's seemed to be like the Boys Club, with kids in and out all the time. Shirley also attended many hockey games that her sons played in or husband coached. She also loved to sing and harmonize with Bill he sang and played his guitar. Shirley also penciled, pasteled and painted wonderful art works of people, animals, fruit and flowers. In Shirley's younger years, she had fun with friends playing ball or swimming in the cold brook water at Jacoby's Farm. She also enjoyed camping, hiking and country rides with her husband. She never forgot the love of her mother and father. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Shirley is survived by her husband of 60 years William "Bill" Harrington, son Mike and his wife Sandy, their children Jessica Lynn, her fiance Frank Scago, their son Trey Weston, Jason Michael, Daniel William, son Darryl, and his son Daniel, son Victor and his wife Lorie, their children Tylor and Paige; son Dale and his companion Hollie. Shirley's family would like to extend a special thanks to Marie Davis as well to the staff at Springside Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center for the care they provided to Shirley. FUNERAL NOTICE- Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley I. Harrington will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will in the Pittsfield Cemetery.
