Stanley F. "Copper" Koperniak

1932 - 2014 ADAMS Mr. Stanley F. "Copper" Koperniak, 81, of 116 East Road, died on Saturday, Oct. 4, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Adams on Nov. 27, 1932, a son of the late Louis and Helen (Bukowska) Koperniak. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1951. Mr. Koperniak was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1961. Mr. Koperniak worked for over 20 years for Petricca Construction Co., until retiring in 1994. Earlier he had worked for the former Sprague Electric Co., North Adams. He also worked part-time for several years at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Adams. He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, bowling and playing softball. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Jean M. Czerwinski, whom he married on August 11, 1956; one son, Paul Koperniak and his wife, Suzanne, of Nashua, N.H.; three daughters, Donna Kozak and her husband, Walter, of Cheshire, Dianne Skrocki and her husband, Steven, of Adams, and Judy Roy and her husband, Romey, of Adams; ten grandchildren,Heather Swistak, Richard Martel, Jr., Ryan Skrocki, Aimee Packard, Trevor Skrocki, Travis Dargie, Jacob Koperniak, Morgan Roy, Julia Koperniak and Joseph Roy; four great-granddaughters, Breea and Savannah Martel, and Isabella Packard and Brynna Swistak. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, Zigmund, Thaddeus, Casimer, Ignatius, John and Theodore Koperniak; and by three sisters, Elizabeth Baran, Victoria Papiez and Pauline Saharczewski. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
