Stanley F. Tracy

1933-2013 Mr. Stanley F. Tracy, 80, of 100 Depot St. Cheshire, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2013, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. He was born in Cheshire on January 22, 1933, a son of the late Elmer and Mildred (Buckbee) Tracy. He attended schools in Cheshire and Adams, and had played semi-pro baseball in his youth. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was one of 3 brothers serving aboard the USS Bristol at the same time. Mr. Tracy worked as a laborer and later as a foreman for Petricca Construction Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1994 after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Cheshire First Baptist Church, and was a 63 year member of the Cheshire Rod and Gun Club; a member of Laborer's Union Local 473 Retirees, Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 Veterans of Foreign Wars, North Adams; and the SS Bristol Association. He had also served on the Cheshire Cemetery Commission for many years. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motor scooter, his hunting dogs, the New York Yankees and New York Giants, and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Leah Casey, whom he married on February 10, 1954; a son, Stanley E. Tracy and his wife, Susan, of Cheshire; a daughter, Valerie Tracy, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Elodie Gaylord of Cheshire, and Patricia Kern of Pittsfield; four Grandchildren, Amy Tracy of Lenox; and Kelly Tracy, Daniel Janey and Isaiah Janey, all of Pittsfield; A close family friend, Celia Ichon of Pittsfield; His beloved pet, Kadi Cat; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Tracy Janey, on Dec. 15, 2011; by 3 brothers, Paul, Preston and Stuart Tracy; and by 3 sisters, Vivian Kuta, Georgianna Kelson and Dorothy Tracy. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18th, at 11:00 AM in the Cheshire First Baptist Church. Pastor David Dillon will officiate. Burial will be in the Spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, are Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
