1954 - 2014 ADAMS Mr. Stephen Edward Mirke, 60, of 26 North Summer St., died on Saturday, Oct. 11, at his home. He was born in Adams on Sept. 20, 1954, son of the late Ronald and Dolores (Silliman) Mirke. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School with the class of 1972. At the time of his death, Mr. Mirke was working as a carpenter for Burke Construction Co., Adams. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and the Adams Turners. He enjoyed antiquing and antique restoration as well as mushrooming. He was very proud to have recently helped his son build his home in Cheshire. He is survived by his wife, the former Marianne Oslizlo, whom he married on April 20, 1974; two sons, Nicholas Mirke and his wife, Jennifer, of Cheshire, and Nathan Mirke of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Sherry Mirke-Orcutt and her husband, David, of Plant City, Fla.; one grandson, Mason Mirke of Cheshire, who affectionately referred to Steve as "Grandpa Peanut Butter;" one aunt, Carol Wysocki; one half-brother, Eric Mirke of Stamford, Vt.; three nieces, Melanie LaFlamme, Tracy Ljubicic and Amberlee Maya; two nephews, David Vidal and Andrew Vidal-McNair; one sister-in-law, Linda Oslizlo; one brother-in-law, Wayne Golka; four stepsisters, and many cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Steve's life and Liturgy of the Word will be on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Steve's family to establish an account for his grandchildren's future education.
