1931 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Steven Zegarowski, 83, of 3 South Carolina Avenue, died Friday, April 3, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle-pedestrian accident. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 18, 1931, a son of Julian and Francesca Laska Zegarowski, he attended Pittsfield schools and was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Zega-rowski enlisted with the United States Marine Corps on September 21, 1949, served with the Marine Ground Intercept Squadron 7 in Jacksonville, N.C., as well as overseas, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant on December 18, 1952. Mr. Zegarowski was employed by General Electric Company where he was an inspector in the Naval Ordnance Systems Division for more than 30 years. He enjoyed having dinner and visiting with friends each night at O'Laughlins. He also enjoyed golf and baseball and was a Boston Red Sox fan. Mr. Zega-rowski is survived by a brother, Edward Zega-rowski, of Hinsdale; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Paul, Walter, Victor, and Zigmund; and his sisters, Eleanor Misco, Pauline Zaveruka, Helen Boland, Nellie Greb, and Wanda Coty. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 22, at 12 noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Berkshire County Jimmy Fund in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
