Susan E. Bernardo

1940 - 2014 LEE Susan E. Bernardo, 74, of West Park St., died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was born in Lee on March 19, 1940, the daughter of Everett L. and Marcia L. Andrews Sparks and was a 1958 graduate of Lee High School. She had worked at the Berkshire Bank in Pittsfield, later as a dispatcher at the Lee Switchboard and was last employed as a care giver at BCARC, retiring in 2012. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her trips to Hampton Beach and Las Vegas. She leaves her husband, Alfred J. Bernardo, whom she married July 16, 1971; four sons Ronald A. Bernardo and his wife Mary, John Bernardo, and James J. Bernardo, all of Pittsfield, and Richard I. Neales of Lee; one daughter, Beth A. Grady and her husband, Mike, of Pittsfield; two brothers, Gordon L. Sparks and his wife, Shirley, of New Smyrnam Beach, Fla., and Alan B. "Mickey" Sparks and his wife, Cathie, of Lee; one sister, Deborah L. Holmes and her husband, Richard, of Lee, and her sister-in-law, Jane Sparks of Lee; 11 grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer, Sara, Lauren, Ryan, Morgan, Justin, Madilyn, Shaunna, Timothy, and Katie, and eight great-grandchildren Susan was predeceased by her first husband, Richard I. Neales in 1969; by her grandson James Bernardo, and by her brother, Eric E. Sparks. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Susan will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Michael Tuck, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lenox, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee.
