Sylvia M. Shepardson

1919 - 2014 LENOX Sylvia M. Shepardson, formerly of Roaring Brook Road, died Sunday at Mount Carmel Care Center. Born in Tyringham on March 19, 1919, the daughter of William L. and Eva Twing Vincent, she attended local schools. Mrs. Shepardson was employed as a housekeeper for various families in the Lenox area for much of her life. She had been a member of St. Helena's Chapel in New Lenox for many years. She enjoyed gardening and raised both flowers and vegetables. Her husband of nearly 54 years, Hugh Wheeler Shepardson, whom she married Dec. 1, 1936, died June 24, 1990. She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Shepardson and his wife, Jacqueline, of Lenox, and Raymond A Shepardson and his wife, Sheila, of Housatonic; daughter-in-law, Carol Shepardson of Lee; niece and nephew, Michael Shepardson (Susan) and Patricia Carter; grandchildren, Lenda, Darlene, Valerie (Ronald), Duane (Martha), Shanda (Joe), Darren (Shannon), Brian (Nicole) and Jeremy (Tanya), Tobin (Lisa), Carey (Nicole), Darren (Emily), Erica (Mike), Rachel, and Alison; 27 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons, David Shepardson who died Aug. 10, 1947, and Hugh K. Shepardson on Feb. 26, 2008. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Mrs. Sylvia Vincent Shepardson of Lenox, who died Jan. 26, 2014, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 470 East New Lenox Road, Pittsfield. Her son, Raymond A. Shepardson, will preside. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. Calling hours at the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Shepardson's memory may be made to the Lenox Ambulance Squad or the Lenox Fire Department, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
