Hitchcock, Sr.

1930-2012 GREAT BARRINGTON Mr. Theodore C. Hitchcock, Sr., 81, of South Egremont Road in Great Barrington passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

A native and lifelong resident Theodore was born in Great Barrington on November 17, 1930, the son of Clayton and Ethel Walsh Hitchcock. He attended the former Searles High School in Great Barrington.

Mr. Hitchcock worked for the Mead Paper Corp in Lee for over 25 years.

An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and the Boston Celtics. Above all else he cherished spending time with his grandchildren Matthew and Madison.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Alice Bona Hitchcock, the couple was married on February 3, 1965 in Greenport, N.Y. He also leaves his son Theodore Hitchcock, Jr. and his daughter-in-law Brenda Hitchcock along with his grandchildren Matthew and Madison of Plainville, Conn as well as his son Jeffrey Hitchcock of Great Barrington, and his daughter Cheryl Louthan of Sandusky, Ohio, his nieces Terry Petell of Lee, and Donna Cruikshank of Winsted, Conn., and eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren all of Ohio.

He was predeceased by his daughter Sheila Phelps in 2009 and his sister Arietta Rado.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 12:30 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. George Karl.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 19, 2012 from 10 a. m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
