1942 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Theresa Lahey, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully into eternal life with our Lord at her home on Friday, April 19, 2013, with her loving sister by her side.

She was born in Pittsfield on Dec. 11, 1942, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Norma (Marsha) Lahey. In 1960, Theresa graduated from St. Joseph's High School. In 1965, she graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College. In 1980, she earned her Master's degree in Pastoral Counseling at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, Conn.

For 11 years, she was an educator for the Springfield Diocesan School System. It was her aspiration to be of service to our elder and senior population through home care service. In February 2012, Theresa retired after many years of longtime service as Director of Social Services.

She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed caring for her home and had a special love for animals.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley.

Theresa leaves behind a brother, Charles M. Lahey of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; her sister, Andrea DiMassimo of Pittsfield; her niece, Noreen Boardman (Lance) of Mount Vernon, Ohio; her nephews, Christopher DiMassimo (Terry) of Dacula, Ga., Michael DiMassimo of Becket, David DiMassimo of Glens Falls, N.Y., and Anthony (Melissa) DiMassimo of Pittsfield; two grandnephews, Trevor and Zachary Boardman, four grandnieces, Abby and Anna DiMassimo and Isla and Kayleigh DiMassimo, and several cousins.

Her burial will take place in the Pittsfield Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Theresa's family would like to thank the staff at Mercy hospital, her doctors, the Holyoke VNA Hospice, and the staff at O'Connell Associates, and all her friends and family for their loving and caring support during her illness.
