Thomas Lupsa

1930-2012 Thomas Lupsa, 82, of 14962 Route 22, Lebanon Springs, N.Y., died Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on December 4, 1930, the son of Anthony and Elizabeth Lupsa, he was educated in Lebanon Springs schools and was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Troy.

A Korean War veteran, Mr. Lupsa enlisted with the United States Army on September 6, 1947, served in Germany, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class (Technical) on January 22, 1953.

Mr. Lupsa was employed as a machinist for the E.D Jones Division of Beloit Corporation and later for Belgian Machine Shop in West Stockbridge for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed motorcycling and also canoeing.

Mr. Lupsa leaves his wife, the former Lee Rigoli, whom he married April 11, 1971.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Pitcher of Lisle, N.Y., and Debbi Traficante of Acra, New York; as well as five grandchildren, Kelly Young, Scott Palmer, Shawn Palmer, Heidi Fritts, and Arielle Pitcher, and four great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Thomas Lupsa will be held Tuesday, August 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Wednesday, August 15, at 2 p.m., at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Lupsa may be made to the Lebanon Valley Protective Association or to the Chatham Rescue Squad, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
