Vasilios A. Alimonos

1926 - 2016 Vasilios A. Alimonos, 89 of Williamstown, MA died Sunday September 11, 2016 at his home. He was born in Magoula, Greece on December 1, 1926, son of Anastasios and Stavroula (Haralambakos) Alimonos. He attended schools in Greece and was a veteran of the Greek Army serving in the military police. Vasilios came to the United States in 1967 and settled in Chicago, IL. There he was employed by the Purex Soap Corp. for about 23 years until his retirement. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sports, cooking and travel. Vasilios especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. His wife was Eleni "Helen" (Koutoulas) Alimonos who died on September 26, 2004. They were married on October 19, 1953. Survivors include one daughter Voula Minick and her husband, Michael of Orange Park, FL; and two sons including Taso Alimonos and his wife, Kathy of Orange Park, FL and James Alimonos and his wife, Rebecca of Williamstown, MA. He also leaves four grandchildren- William Minick, Dimitri Minick, William Alimonos, and Alyssa Alimonos; and two brothers- John Alimonos and his wife, Nikki and George Alimonos and his wife, Voula both of Magoula, Greece; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers- Peter and Costa. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Vasilios Alimonos will be Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 11:30 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams with the Rev. Fr. John G. Maheras, Pastor of St. George Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
