Vernon L. Striebel

1930 - 2015 Vernon L. Striebel of Yarmouthport passed away on November 11 following a brief illness. He was born on June 24, 1930. Vernon was a graduate of Dalton High School, Becker Junior College and Boston University. A Korean War veteran, Vernon served in the U.S. Army, followed by 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.Throughout his career, he was active in banking and real estate. He enjoyed membership in the Jaycees and was a 52 year member of the Global Unity Lodge in Dalton. Vernon leaves his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Blackwell Striebel, a daughter, Pamela Doyle and her husband, David, of Forest Hill, MD, his granddaughters, Lillian and Rebecca Doyle, his sister-in-law, Mary Knowles, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., nephews, James, Robert and Stephen Knowles, neices, Laura Knowles, Sarah and Sophia Truden. The family wants to thank Dr. James Reimer and the staff at the Artificial Kidney Center, Dr. Albert Barrows and the staff of the Cape Cod Hospital for the excellent care that Vernon received. SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, at the Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth at 12:30pm, followed by a military interment ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at2:30pm Visitation will be11am to 12:30pm.
