Vina Greenlaw Ferris 1929-2012 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Vina Greenlaw Ferris, 82 of 26 Chase Ave. North Adams, died Tuesday May 15, 2012 at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in Orient, Maine on July 23, 1929, daughter of Frederick Greenlaw and Viola (Byron) Greenlaw Strack Sprague. She attended North Adams schools. Vina was last employed at the Millbrook Bread Store on Curran Highway. Before that, she worked as a waitress at the former Tally House Restaurant and the Williams Inn. She also worked at the MCLA cafeteria. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Lebanese Social Club. Vina enjoyed bowling and golf and was a member of Waubeeka Golf Links. She was the widow of Michael M. Ferris who died on October 2, 2006. They were married on September 6, 1948. Survivors include one daughter- Joanne M. Alcaro, and her husband Joseph of Adams. Two sons- Thomas C. Ferris of North Adams; and Frederick G. Ferris and his wife, Leigh of Williamstown. Six grandchildren- Peter Ferris, Joseph Alcaro, Colleen Pete, Dawn Ferris, Thomas Ferris Jr., and Chase Ferris. Nine Great Grandchildren- Megan, Erin, Zola, Katherine, Abigail, Joey, Noah, Owen, and Isabella. She also leaves two brothers- Horace Greenlaw of North Adams and John Strack of Adams; two sisters-Donna Czarnecki of the state of Florida; Rosemary Malloy of Cheshire; and nieces and nephews. A son, Michael Ferris is deceased and three brothers and one sister are deceased including Harry Greenlaw, Frederick Greenlaw, Kenneth Sprague, and Jean Morgan. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Vina Ferris will be Saturday May 19, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the in care of the funeral home.
