Virginia Ann MacDonald

1929-2013 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Virginia Ann (Bliss) MacDonald, 83 of 107 Richview Ave. North Adams, died Friday July 19, 2013 at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in Clarksburg, on December 18, 1929, daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Grogan) Bliss. She attended Clarksburg Schools and graduated from Drury High School.

She was last employed by General Photo in Williamstown. Before that, she worked at Sprague Electric Co. for 25 Years. In her younger years, Virginia worked at JC Penney.

Virginia attended the Baptist Church. She was a member of Naomi Chapter #17 Order of the Eastern Star and was its Past Matron. She enjoyed Bingo and was a Boston Red Sox baseball fan.

She was the widow of George C. MacDonald who died on August 31, 1999. They were married on June 9, 1950.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Fischer and her husband, George of Clarksburg; and Dianne Hajdas and her husband, Francis of Adams. One son, Glenn MacDonald and his wife, Maria of Griswold, Conn. Four Grandchildren, Renee Hajdas, Amanda MacDonald, Charles Fischer, and Darren Hajdas and one great grandchild, Rebekah MacDonald

She also leaves two sisters- Betty Smith and her husband, Gil of Canton, Ohio; and Norma Cutting of Dalton; and a sister in law- Hilda Koscielniak and her husband, Martin of North Adams; and nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her brothers and sister- Richard, Clifford, Robert, and Ann Bliss; and her sisters and brother in law- Mary MacDonald, Dorothy Morin, and Arthur MacDonald.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Virginia MacDonald will be Saturday July 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday morning from 9 to 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or the in care of the funeral home.
