1915-2012 GREAT BARRINGTON Mrs. Virginia Mattson, 96, a longtime resident of Great Barrington died Monday, November 19, 2012.

Born November 26, 1915 in Great Barrington she was the daughter of John and Anna Mataldo Bosolaski. She was a graduate of the former Searles High School in Great Barrington.

Virginia was an author and wrote several books.

She was a member of the Great Barrington Historical Society. Virginia was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Czepiel of Burlington, Conn., her son Carl Mattson and his wife Marie of Kettle Falls, Washington, three grandchildren Charlene Doll and her husband Vincent, Shannon Surreira and her husband John and Robert Czepiel as well as six great grandchildren Tyler, Gerad, Trevor and Mikayla Doll and Bradyn and Coltyn Surreira.

She was predeceased by her husband Walter Mattson, Sr. and her son Walter Mattson, Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A service celebrating the life of the late Virginia Mattson will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA, conducted by Rev. William H. Murphy, pastor, St. Peter's Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Great Barrington.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23rd from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
