Virginia M. Passetto

1926-2013 HOUSATONIC Virginia M. Passetto 86, a life-long resident of Housatonic, died Friday March 1, 2013 at Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Housatonic on September 8, 1926 daughter of the late Wladyslaw and Teofila Wisniewski Siok. She attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of the former Searles High School.

She worked as a secretary for the former C.I. Sweet Insurance and Real Estate Agency , a secretary in the pay roll department for the former Monument Mills, a clerk at the former Sears Catalog Office, Great Barrington, and as an Administrative Secretary at the Marion Fathers for 10 years retiring in 1990. Virginia was a communicant at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, Corpus Christi Parish, and the former All Saints Church, where she served on the Parish Council, taught CCD, served on the Bazaar and Picnic Committees, she was a Polish and English Lector, Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Rosary Sodality and Past President for many years. Virginia was also a member of the Adams Budz Post #8183 Auxiliary, she also served on the Housatonic War Memorial Committee and was Chairman for many years, she was also a secretary to the Housatonic Biddy League for many years, when her sons were growing up and playing in the League. Virginia loved to crochet and knit for her beloved children and grandchildren and has donated mittens, hats, teddy bears, dolls, toys and afghans to various organizations, as well other children in the community. Virginia enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and cooking for their parties: she had many recipes published in the Lee Leahy Stanfield Column of the Berkshire Eagle.

Virginia's husband Emilio "Grap" P. Passetto whom she married on August 21, 1948, predeceased her on March 20, 2001.

She leaves two sons, Jack Passetto and his wife Ginny, of Great Barrington, and Anthony Passetto and his wife Laura of Housatonic, one daughter Marianne Avanzato and her husband Joseph of Pittsfield, one sister Theresa Roy of Housatonic, nine grandchildren, Julie, Lexi, Gina, Matthew, Rebecca, Ann Marie, Daniel, Nicholas and Marissa, and two great grandchildren, Aidan, and Laci Ann.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Virginia M. Passetto who died March 1, will be held on Monday March 4, with a liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, with the Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday March 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
