Warren F. Baker

1917 - 2013 CLARKSBURG Warren Ford Baker, 95, of River Rd., died Tuesday April 9, 2013.

He was born in North Adams, on October 26, 1917, son of Ralph and Mary (Ford) Baker. He attended Clarksburg schools and Drury High School.

He was last employed as a teacher in the automotive department of McCann Technical High School until his retirement in 1984. Before that, he was the owner of Baker's Garage in Clarksburg.

Mr. Baker was a 77-year member of the First Baptist Church in North Adams, where he was active in many of its functions. He was a member of the Lafayette Lodge of Masons. He also held many positions in the civic, political, and community life in Clarksburg.

His wife, the former Ruth M. McKay, whom he married June 28, 1941, died March 22, 2002.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Gabel, and her husband, Kurt, of Williamstown; one son, Dwight Baker of Marshfield, Vt.; four grandchildren, Kristy Camp and her husband, Douglas, of Essex; Kurt Gabel and his wife, Madeline Fletcher, of Beacon, N.Y.; Kara Baker of Maineville, Ohio, and Jill Baker of Lebanon, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Anneliese and Ellaina Camp and Alice Gabel; one sister, Hellen Luscia of North Adams; one sister-in-law, Betty Mancuso of Leesburg, Fla., and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Mary M. Baker; by a brother, Stanley Baker, and by a sister, Thelma Horahan.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Warren Baker will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Private burial will be in Eastlawn cemetery. Per his request, there are no calling hours.
