Wayne R. Harris
1949-2014 LENOX On May 24, 2014, Wayne surprised us by passing in his sleep. He returned to The Creator to join his father, Robert, who passed on when he was an infant, and his mother, Dorothy, when he was 17 years old. After graduating from Lenox Memorial High in 1967 he moved to Illinois to pursue his passion at heavy equipment school. He returned to the Berkshires and was employed by Fred Mercer Construction. In 1972 he moved to Georgia for career advancement and in 1973 to Florida where he resided for 40 years and was superintendent at GLF Construction and loved his work. Wayne's passion for attending NASCAR races took him all over the country. He also enjoyed cooking and maintaining his home in Deltona, Florida. He became a loving husband to Jeannie O'Brien when they exchanged their marriage vows on February 17, 1990. He also leaves behind his adored daughter, Lindsey Harris of Deltona; his sister, Myrna Harris of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; niece, Thea Sweney and her husband, Tim; and many friends in the Berkshires. When Wayne referred to his family he always said, "I have everything I've wanted."
