William Mazzu

1941 - 2015 NORTH ADAMS William R. Mazzu, 73, of 418 Church St., passed away happily and peacefully to join his loving mother, father and brothers on Tuesday Feb. 17, 2015. He was born in North Adams on May 18, 1941 a son of the late Pasquale Mazzu and Mary (Giacco) Mazzu. He attended schools in North Adams graduating from Drury High School in 1960. He was an accomplished member of the Drury High School Track and Field team. He attended the University of Vermont and the Ottawa University in Kansas. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army Medical Corp in the Vietnam War serving, until injury, as a private and rife marksman. After his military career in 1965 he returned home to dedicate his life to his loving and devoted mother and care for the family interests. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, walking, and cycling; he was an avid reader and enjoyed the stock market. He leaves a sister, Rose M. Lord and her husband, Dr. Raymond Lord DMD of North Adams and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Dr. Arthur L. Mazzu, Joseph A. Mazzu, Dr. Theodore J. Mazzu and James A. Mazzu. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will take place in the Spring time at the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
