William J. Morris Sr.

1926 - 2014 CLARKSBURG Mr. William John Morris Sr., 87, of 155 Middle Rd., Clarksburg, died on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. He was born in Clarksburg on Nov. 15, 1926, a son of the late John and Kathryn Kurrant Morris, and attended schools in North Adams. Mr. Morris was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy on the USS Quincy. He was honorable discharged on June 8, 1946. Mr. Morris worked for many years at Excelsior Printing & Engraving Co., North Adams, until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams. He was a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion, North Adams. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who was known affectionately as "Tata." He is survived by his wife, the former Eleanor Libardi, whom he married on Sep. 16, 1950; a daughter, Nancy Nuvallie and her husband, David, of Clarksburg, with whom he and his wife made their home; three sons, William J. Morris Jr. and his wife, Gayle, of Grants Pass, Ore., Robert Morris and his, wife Karen, of Bedford, N.H. and Peter Morris and his wife, Patricia, of North Adams; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and John Morris and by a half brother, Owen Morris. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams, celebrated by the Rev. William Cyr, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convienence of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the , 59 Bobala Road, Holyoke, MA 01040.
