William J. Vincelette 1927-2011 LENOX William J. Vincelette, 84, of Brunell Avenue, died Wednesday morning at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Adams, May 11, 1927, the son of William J. and Julia Toupence Vincelette, he was a 1945 graduate of Adams High School where he was co-captain of the 1944-45 season football team that became Western Mass Champions, completed the General Electric Apprentice Program, and was a graduate of the DeVry Institute in Chicago, Ill. Mr. Vincelette was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was employed for thirty six years by the General Electric Co. in their Power Transformer Division holding various positions and retiring as the Supervisor of Maintenance, retiring in 1987. A resident of Lenox since 1953, Mr. Vincelette was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and was a member of the Fr. William F. Davitt Council, Knights of Columbus. Active in Lenox town affairs, he had been the Town Veteran's Agent for several years and was a long-time member of the Lenox DPW Board. He belonged to the GE Quarter Century Club, as well as the Pensioner's and Foreman's Club's. He liked to golf and ski and had been a member of the Mt. Greylock Ski Patrol. He also loved photography, working on his computer and traveling. After retiring, Bill and his wife Shirley traveled over 29,000 miles throughout the United States and Canada. He and his wife of 62 years, the former Shirley M. Turner, were married in St. Joseph's Church in Pittsfield on December 27, 1948. Besides his wife of Lenox he is survived by three daughters; Nancy J. Fletcher and husband, James and Sue Ellen VanNostrand and husband, Ralph all of Derry, N.H., and Julie G. Stinson and husband Robert of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Alice Vincelette of Pittsfield, and six grandchildren; Joanne Balentine and husband Paul of York Beach, Maine, Andrea Fletcher of Portland, Maine, William J.V. Fletcher and wife Melissa of Lebanon, N.H., Michael VanNostrand of Medford, Mass., Katherine VanNostrand of Hamden, Conn., and Samuel K. Stinson of Anchorage, Alaska. Besides his parents he was predeceased by Richard Vincelette and Robert Vincelette, both of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Mr. William J. Vincelette of Lenox who died December 7, 2011, will be Monday morning at 9 a.m. from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday (tomorrow) from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Lenox Town Scholarship Fund or St. Ann's Church, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
