William Woodger Obituary
William K. Woodger

1959 - 2016 PITTSFIELD William Kent Woodger, 57, of Alba Ave., passed away Saturday, May 21 at Berkshire Medical Center following a short illness. He was born January 27, 1959 in Pittsfield, the son of Bruce B. Woodger and Mary K. Swanson; he graduated from Northeastern University in 1982 and received a Master's in Sports Administration from the University of Massachusetts. Kent was employed as a civilian administrator by the Department of Defense in Pittsfield for 33 years, retiring in 2015. He cared deeply for his family. His dad, his brothers and especially his mom. His former wife Joanne and his step-sons Brain and Kevin were a hugely important part of his life. Along with his family, his dogs, Fritz, Murphy and Baily brought great joy to his life. Kent made many a friend while walking them in the park and sharing their company. He loved the Red Sox and Patriots and had a passion for golf. He was a member of both Skyline Country Club and Wahconah Country Club. Kent lived his life with remarkable grace - in both his words and actions. He had wonderful gentle humor - never sharp or caustic but thoughtfully witty. Kent rarely required entertaining; he was simply happy to be in the company of others. He had an easy, comfortable manner that made being his friend, brother, partner or parent an equally easy joy. He will be so greatly missed by the very many of us that loved him, but the wealth of indelibly happy memories that he generously leaves with us will be a comfort for all of our remaining years. Kent is survived by his mother Kristin Woodger of Dalton MA, his father Bruce Woodger of Newtown PA, his brother Scott Woodger, Scott's wife Daria and their two children Andrew and Brad, his brother Brad Woodger, Brad's wife Arlene and their son Etienne. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of Kent's life is being planned by his family for some time in June. Donations in his memory may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
