Casimer T. Zawislak, Sr.
1919-2014 Casimer T. Zawislak, Sr., age 94, of Sugar Hill Assisted Living in Dalton, passed away at the Berkshire Medical Center on Tuesday morning surrounded by his family. He was born in Adams, June 10, 1919, the last of the surviving children of Joseph and Kathryn Misiak Zawislak. He was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of the former Adams High School. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Gridley as a Boatswain Mate 2nd Class and participated in all of the major campaigns of the South Pacific during his six years of service. Returning to the Berkshires, he was employed at the former G.E. Naval Ordnance Systems as an assembler and later in the tank shop at the former G.E. Power Transformer Dept. Mr. Zawislak retired in 1984 with over 30 years of combined service between the two plants. His wife of 64 years, the former Helena G. Nigro, died June 11, 2010. He is survived by his sons, Casimer "Casey" T. Zawislak, Jr. of Millersville, Md. and Robert John Zawislak of Annapolis, Md., his daughter, Kathryn Helena Zawislak of Manning, OR., and his granddaughter, Kathryn Whitlock of Pasadena, MD.
