Charles L. Butera
1921-2014 Charles L. "Chick" Butera, 93, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2014 in Pensacola, Fla. The eldest of five children, he was born in Sicily, Italy and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served his country proudly as a Merchant Marine during World War II and retired from Star Corrugated Box Company in Maspeth, N.Y., after 30 years of employment as a semi-trailer driver. He enjoyed many years at the home he built for his family in South Egremont, Mass., before retiring to Pensacola, Fla. He is survived by Catherine, his wife of 55 years, his daughters June Butera Pouliot and Christine Castonguay, two grand daughters Deborah Castonguay Lathrop and Cathy Castonguay Iacono, and ten great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Vivian, many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph, Salvatore, and Carmella. He will be remembered as a hard-working person with a gentle wisdom and deep commitment to his loved ones. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 7th at 10:15 am at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL followed by a Memorial Service on Saturday March 8th at 10:00 am at First Christian Church, Goodrich Drive, Pensacola where he was a member.
