Clifford M. Hartman

1923 - 2014 DALTON Clifford M. Hartman, 90, of 345 Red Barn Road, a former longtime resident of Queensbury, N.Y., died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Glens Falls, N.Y. on Nov. 19, 1923, the son of Louis and Harriet Ball Hartman, he was educated in Glens Falls schools and was a 1942 graduate of Glens Falls High School. A World War II veteran, Mr. Hartman was inducted into the U.S. Army on Jan. 2, 1943. He served overseas, during the Battle of the Bulge, from Dec. 1944 to Sep. 1945. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbons with two bronze service stars. He was honorably discharged as a Technician Fifth Grade on Febr. 9, 1946. Mr. Hartman was employed by Finch-Prayn of Glens Falls, where he was a laboratory technician. He retired in 1982 with 25 years service. For ten years following retirement, he was a courier for TD Bank in New York. Mr. Hartman was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Glens Falls where he was very active and held several offices. He volunteered with the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, as well. While living in Dalton, he attended services at the Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Hartman was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Dalton American Legion Post 155. He enjoyed walking in the woods and motor cycle riding. Mr. Hartman leaves his wife, the former June Chapman, whom he married Sep. 16, 1946, in Corinth, N.Y.; two daughters, Patricia Ann Ball, and her husband, Robert, of Middletown, Del., and Sandra S. Aasen and her husband, Ron, of Dalton; a brother, Floyd "Bud" Hartman and his wife, Anita, of Queensbury, N.Y.,and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis G. Hartman, and a sister, Bernadette Hartman. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Clifford M. Hartman will be held Saturday, March 15, at 12 p.m. at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in DALTON, with the Rev. Bryan T. Lamberton, Pastor of the Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. The service will conclude with military honors rendered by the Dalton American Legion. Calling hours will precede the service, beginning at 11 a.m. Inurnment, with full military honors, will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene, or to the Friends of the Dalton Senior Center both in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
