Ronald L. Adams Sr.
1935-2014 WASHINGTON Ronald L. Adams Sr., 78, of Washington, died March 16, 2014 at home, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer. He was the son of Leo and Rose Bruno Adams. He was born October 1, 1935 in Spencer, and attended school and church in Petersham. He served in the Navy for four years, as a jet engine mechanic, and was on the Navy rifle drill team. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 98. He formed his own construction company, Hilltown Construction, with his son, Ronald Jr. He rode with the Berkshire County Harley Davidson Chapter. Ronald enjoyed hunting and deep sea fishing on his boat the "Mountain Man". His stories will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, the former Carolyn Smith Sears, to whom he was married for 49 years; his stepchildren, George E. Sears Jr. of Washington, Beverly and Dan Dougherty of Peru, Stephen and Lorrie Sears of Dayton, Nev. and Patricia Sears of Becket; four grandchildren, Dylan Sears, Amanda and Tom Raymond, Casey Dougherty, and Hannah Sears; and two great-grandchildren, Maija Raymond and Jaelyn Reynolds. Ronald also leaves five sisters, Frances Potter of Olney, Ill., Alma Borelli of Brookfield, Yvonne Hile of Urbana, Mo., Rose Adams of Jackson, Mich., Michelle Burkett of Sutherland, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Eva Dixon; brothers, Carl, James and Leo Adams; and his son, Ronald L. Adams Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Ronald L. Adams Sr., will be held Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at the Becket Federated Church with the Rev. Kevin Smail officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in West Cummington Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton.
