Ronald J. Hawley

1940-2014 EAST OTIS Ronald Joseph Hawley, 74, of Old Blandford Road, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at his home. He was born in Great Barrington on February 5, 1940, the son of Henry and Laura Bossie Hawley. Ron was educated in Otis Schools and attended the Westfield Trade School. He worked for many years for TRW/SKF Ball Bearing Manufacturing in Winsted, Conn. retiring in 2000. He and his son had operated RJ and Son Sharpening in Otis and after his retirement he operated MR Lawn Service. He and his wife, the former Lee Zonnie Liebowitz, would have celebrated 43 years of marriage next month. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, car racing, playing cards and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots. In addition to his wife, Ronald leaves his son; Michael A. Hawley of East Otis, and two grandchildren; Kyle and Cody. He is also survived by one brother, Barry C. Hawley and his wife, Adele, of Lee; and two sisters, Pauline M. Laudon and her husband, William, of Lee, and Joyce E. Duris of West Springfield. He was predeceased by five brothers; Donald, Henry, Richard, Peter and Bruce, and two sisters, Mary Silkey and Lorraine Dombkowski. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lakes in Otis. Burial will be in the spring in Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, March 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main Street, Lee. Friends wishing may make memorial donations to the Otis Library in care of the funeral home.
