Gloria P. Luscier Williams

1931-2014 Mrs. Gloria P. Luscier Williams, age 82, formerly of 489 Crane Ave. Pittsfield, died Sunday at the Sunrise Senior Living facility in Holbrook, N.Y. where she had recently moved to be closer to her son. She was born in North Adams, Sept. 7, 1931, the daughter of the late David and Mina Luscier. She began her education there and moved to Pittsfield where she joined the 6th grade at the former Crane School on Springside Ave. Continuing her education, she was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She and her late husband, John S. Williams along with his sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Arthur Harrington, established the children's clothing business, "The Looking Glass" which they operated from 1971 until 1984 within the former Kay's Dept. Store on North St. The business became a family enterprise employing two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Beaulieu and the late Cecelia Williams, as well as various nieces as they entered the job market. Mrs. Williams was a very active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesboro where she served in the parish Vestry along with participating in the various fund raising activities of the parish. The Proud Grandma, she was known to "dote" on her grandchildren as nothing gave her more pride and joy. She and her late husband, upon their retirement, enjoyed traveling to Bradenton, FL. for the winter months to visit with friends. Additionally, she and her husband John, enjoyed their long time membership at the Berkshire Hills Country Club, she and her late husband John S. Williams, who died Sept. 16, 2008, were married April 19, 1952 in St. Charles Church. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey K. Williams and his wife, Louise, of Moriches, N.Y., her brother, Kenneth Luscier and his wife, Susan of Williamstown, MA., her grandsons, Gregory K. and Michael K. Williams. Her son, John David Williams, died July 1, 1993. Her granddaughter, Kara Lynn Williams, died March 17, 2010. She is also survived by her in-laws, James Williams and JoAnn and Roger Beaulieu, as well as Elizabeth and Arthur Harrington and her many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Williams, Gloria P., age 82, formerly of 489 Crane Ave. Pittsfield, died March 30th. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm. A Celebration of Her Life will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesborough with the Rev. Noreen P. Suriner, Pastor and Priest, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the "Kara's Hope Foundation" in care of the funeral home.
