William H. Schiller Sr.
1949-2014 SHEFFIELD William H. Schiller Sr., 64, of South Undermountain Road in Sheffield passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 22, 1949 in Catskill, New York he was the son of Dorothy Weiland Schneider and the late Julius Robert Schiller. He was a graduate of Kings Park High School. Bill married his wife, the former Mary Ann Farrell, on March 24, 1973 in Kings Park, New York. The couple began their married life in Kings Park then in 1976 they moved their family Sheffield and planted their roots. Mr. Schiller worked as a machine operator at Sheffield Plastics for the past 37 years, only retiring this past December when due to his illness he was no longer able to go to work. Bill was a "Jack of all Trades". He was a self taught Mr. Fix-it, tackling projects from flooring to cabinets, boats to cars. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and would enter a yearly striped bass fishing contest. He was a member of the Hop-a-Nose boat club in Catskill, N.Y. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all else he cherished spending time with his family and friends. Along with his mother, Dorothy Schneider of Newbern, N.C., Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Schiller; his son, Lamont Schiller and his daughter, Rachel LePera and her husband Todd. He also leaves his brothers , George and Frank Schiller and his sisters, Lorraine Worcel and Louise Lovejoy. He was predeceased by his son, William H. Schiller Jr., who died on January 10, 2012. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
