Dr. James Eglin Jr.

1929 - 2014 WILLIAMSTOWN Dr. James Milton Eglin Jr., 84, of 21 Mount Williams Drive, Williamstown, died Monday March 31, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Paterson, N.J. on July 12, 1929, son of James M. and Margaret Proche Eglin. He graduated from Princeton University, with the class of 1949, and completed the Yale Medical School in 1952 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Dr. Eglin served as a surgeon at North Adams Regional Hospital for 20 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's and St. Raphael's Church, and participated in its meals on wheels program. He was a member of the Mendelssohn Club of Albany, NY. Dr. Eglin enjoyed music and reading. Survivors include his wife, the former Evelyn Harman, whom he married on Nov. 25, 1961; a daughter, Alexandra Eglin of Brighton, Mass.; three sons, James M. Eglin, III of Philadelphia, Penn., Everett Eglin of New Orleans, La., and Christopher Eglin of Williamstown. He also leaves his granddaughter, Grace Eglin. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Dr. James Eglin will be celebrated Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will be private.
