Ernestine J. "Tina" Campbell

1921-2014 PITTSFIELD Ernestine J. "Tina" Campbell, 92, of South Mountain Rd., passed away peacefully at her home on April 5, 2014. Born September 28, 1921 in Glouster, Virginia, was the daughter of Walter and Gertrude Fugman Chapman. She attended local schools graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1939. She then went to the New York Weather Bureau School. After school she went to work at the weather bureau at the Pittsfield Airport, then moved to Washington D.C. where she worked at the U.S Weather Bureau Analysis Center in Washington D.C. Ernestine was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She just recently received an award from Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts, for her services in the United States Air Force which read, "We pay special tribute to you for your military service to America and for Advancing the universal hope of freedom and liberty for all". Ernestine enjoyed traveling, cooking, art and was an accomplished seamstress Ernestine was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Campbell , whom she married November 1, 1952. He passed away January 18, 2013. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy M. Lay of Dalton and Pauline M. Giacoletto and her husband, Jimmie, of Pittsfield; one brother, George B. Chapman and his wife, Rebecca, of Cape Coral, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Matthew Campbell of Beach Haven, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Mary Chapman of Challis, Idahol and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Virginia Bradway and Martha Hard; brothers, Woodford, Walter, Paul and David Chapman. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of Western Massachusetts, and also all of Tina's wonderful caregivers. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of life for Ernestine J. Campbell will be held Wednesday April 16, 2014 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Timothy Weisman officiating at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 EAST STREET, PITTSFIELD MA 01201.
